This site will help make you a better cook, an adept gardener, and good-looking. Also, I'm not from or in Tuscany, and I'm a man.
When I can figure out how to get a list of the other posts in this category here, it will be. For now, just some pictures. =)
It’s been a weird week around the homestead. First we had the Monday holiday, then Tuesday my uncle and cousin came down to work on the house, and I’ve been all out of sorts. This weekend we’ve got some housework, brewing, and the circus lined up. Should be fun.
Quick tip for the grocery shopping. My local hippy store, Mother’s Market, has been carrying chopped up turkeys in the meat section. They only sell frozen meat, so I’ve been getting frozen turkey thighs for $2.69 a pound. These bad boys weigh in around 2 lbs., which is 2 lbs. of dark meat love, with minimal bones. I roasted one up last night for some tacos ( salt, pepper, and in the oven at 425 until I hit 170 internal ). So good, and there’s plenty of leftovers for tonight’s soup. $5 for 2 nights of organic free-range turkey? Not bad. Ask your butcher or look in the fresh frozen meat section at your local shop.
Tonight I’m making some Minestrone, with salad and sourdough. Simple, but tasty and filling. There should be plenty for leftover lunch tomorrow. I’ve been re-reading my Naked Chef books and getting some inspiration there, as well as the Zuni Cafe Cookbook. I think next will be more interesting culinarily speaking. Also I didn’t harvest the radishes yet, so look for some pictures of those and maybe some brew process pics over the weekend.
Salute!
